Welcome to Elmhurst Therapy

About Me

Hi. I’m Katie. For over 20 years, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals and families through meaningful change, healing, and growth. My professional experience spans the lifespan—from children in school settings to older adults in long-term care, and from individuals in inpatient psychiatric facilities to those experiencing housing instability. These diverse settings have shaped my holistic, grounded, and deeply compassionate approach to therapy and coaching.

Today, my practice is dedicated exclusively to working with adults who are navigating complex life transitions, relationship challenges, and professional aspirations. Many of my clients are high-achieving professionals, leaders, creatives, and entrepreneurs seeking to realign their lives and work with their values. I frequently support individuals who are struggling with parenthood, building businesses, or making significant career changes. I also work with adults who are processing the impact of past trauma—including generational and developmental trauma—and exploring how those experiences continue to influence their relationships and sense of self. My clinical focus includes relationship concerns across all contexts: romantic partnerships, parenting, family dynamics, and caregiver roles. Clients often engage with me during pivotal times of transition, such as retirement, midlife shifts, divorce/remarriage, caring for aging parents, adapting to chronic illness.,etc. In our work together, I help clients build clarity, resilience, and self-compassion so they can navigate change with intention and purpose.

My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strengths-Based Theory, Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed care, family systems, and the Gottman Method. I also draw on behavioral strategies to help clients develop practical tools for sustained progress. My style is direct, collaborative, and anchored in respect, warmth, and humor. Whether you are seeking to heal longstanding wounds, cultivate healthier relationships, or pursue personal and professional goals that feel out of reach, I am committed to helping you tap into your strengths and realize your potential. I believe that therapy can be a transformative space—one where insight leads to action, and where you can reconnect with your vision for a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

I am continually challenging myself to grow as a clinician—remaining curious, informed, and committed to evidence-based interventions that best serve my clients.
